Rob has presented different shows on CCR, including the breakfast show with Jamie and Lucy. He now works with Heart but pops in from time to time to keep his hand in as a presenter!
What was your first radio memory?
My first radio memory would have to be way back in primary school when it would snow. Waking up and seeing it had snowed.. Instantly tuning into Essex FM to hear Martin and Su read the list of schools out, desperately hoping my school was closed. It’s crazy to think that the little 8year old sat round the radio is now working alongside Martin and Su at Heart Essex 11years later!
How did you first get into radio?
I first started out at Hospital Radio Chelmsford based in Brookfield hospital. When I joined I was put onto the Sunday night request show, where I was taught the basics of radio and given the opportunity to improve and learn. It wasn’t until I was given my own show on a Tuesday evening that I really found my feet and my confidence grew to what it is today!
Since being at HRC I have started working for Heart Essex and co-presenting the breakfast show of Chelmsford community radio.
What is your favourite song ever?
Why is it that when asked this question your mind always goes blank? I’m a huge fan of music ranging from Oasis, to the Beatles, to Mcfly, to the Feeling and bon Jovi. But I’m think it’s a toss up between brainstorm by the Arctic Monkeys and Disco 2000 by Pulp.
What three songs would you take to a desert island?
3 songs?! So much to choose from!
Song 1- Hey Baby by DJ otzi. Perfect song to have a beach party to!
Song 2- You’ll never walk alone by gerry and the pacemakers. It’s going to get lonely at times and as a huge Liverpool fan this is the perfect song to keep you going.
Song 3- Town called malice by The Jam. It’s a great uplifting song!
What is your ambition?
Iv come along way and feel so lucky to be where I am, but the journey’s not over yet!
I’m already working in commercial radio for heart essex, but I would love to come a presenter or procure for the BBC or a commercial radio station.
