Ginny May Mesina

Ginny presents Monday Drive 5pm-7pm and Breakfast every weekday morning 7:30am-10am.

First radio memory?

My earliest memory of anything to do with radio was when my family and I were driving to Dover. I was around 8 or 9 years old and with no phone, I was bored to death! Then a Katy Perry song came on the radio that I’d heard before. I started singing it, then one by one my family joined in. We ended up singing every song that came on the radio for the next 2 hours – all the way to Dover!

First got into radio?

I actually first got into radio through NCS (National Citizen Service) -which I recommend every 16-17 year old tries (trust me it’s awesome). As part of the programme we had to do some fundraising for a charity of our choice. So we were outside The Mill (where the studios of CCR were based) selling cakes and someone suddenly announced that there was a radio station inside and “would anyone like to come and do an interview to raise some awareness for our project. I volunteered, then after going on air and talking about our fundraising; I realised I couldn’t shut up and kind of liked being behind a microphone. I went back into the station and asked how I could get involved-and that’s where it all started.

Fav song ever?

I’ve always had trouble with this question and that will never change… I don’t have a favourite song ever, because I love everything! But one I could recommend for people would be Chelsea Dagger by The Fratellis as it always makes me happy!

3 songs on desert island?

Here we go again! I guess if I really had to choose, I’d pick

-Nobody to Love by Sigma

-Legend by Drake

-Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen

Granted, I’ll probably hate these songs after 1 week of hearing them on repeat…

Truthfully… I want to run away to Australia and build a skateboard shop and live on mangos.

If you honestly believed that then I don’t really know what to say…

But seriously, I’d like to own a pair of Louboutins one day.
