What was your first radio memory?
“Listening to my mum’s car radio. She was a big fan of singers like Michael Bolton and Carly Simon.
I also remember begging my dad to turn over the radio station every time ABBA came on. He told me when I was older I would appreciate ABBA. Twenty years later ‘Knowing me knowing you’ came on the radio and I subconsciously turned it up. He was right!”
How did you first get into radio?
“This is my first experience of radio presenting. As a teacher I have always enjoyed the sound of my own voice and this is a great opportunity to hear myself without having to worry about whether my class are listening!”
What is your favourite song ever?
“Easy, A-ha ‘Take on Me.’ I love that song. The tune is fantastic, the lyrics are great and the music video is one of the best of all time. I was lucky enough to see A-ha live a couple of years ago at Wembley Arena and they were brilliant. Incidentally I came straight from watching Chelmsford City get knocked out of the FA cup, unfortunately I was the only person wearing a Chelmsford City shirt that year.”
What three songs would you take to a Desert Island?
A-ha ‘Take on me’ (see above)
A-ha ‘The Living Daylights (I am a huge James Bond fan as well)
Crowded House ‘Distant Sun’ (I just love that song)
What is your ambition?
“To enjoy myself and hopefully entertain the listeners”
