Carl Spual

Carl Spaul

Carl presents 60’s Fusion on CCR every Sunday at 5 p.m, he can also be heard on In The Middle with Scott and Greg Page in his role as ‘Teaboy’.

What is your earliest radio memory?

My earliest radio memory is sitting in the car as a young boy listening to the Tony Blackburn show on medium wave radio. Remember medium wave? No? Well you always lost the signal when you went under a bridge. God bless FM.

How did you get into radio?

I first got in to Radio in March 2014 when Scott and Greg Page were asked to present In The Middle, I came as part of the package and was offered 60’s Fusion not long after which I jumped at. I was born in ’66 but was part of the Mod revival in ’79 so it was right up my street. I have a particular passion for Northern soul, Motown and Ska but 60’s Fusion is all about the blend so I’ll play any genre. I’ve set out to encourage people to get in touch with the show and send me the tracks that they love but never get played.

What is your favourite song?

My favourite song ever? Ooh that’s harsh, but if you pin me down I’d have to say In My Lonely Room by Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, no wait, eeerrrmm Police and Thieves by Junior Murvin, actually no it’s If I Should Fall From Grace With God by The Pogues. This is too hard I have so many including Beethoven’s 9th and most of Paul Weller’s back catalogue…….. I give up.
