We are entirely run by volunteers, producing just over 50 hours of local live programming each week. We have a growing number of listeners with the last count being over 2000, listening for an average of 50 minutes each, not bad for a small community station, broadcasting through the web.
We are committed to being a voice and platform for Chelmsford. We have welcomed local people, projects, groups and charities into our studios to talk local events, initiatives and services.
On our station you will hear local people, projects, events, music, news, sports, travel and weather.
CCR have around 60 volunteers involved in the project, dedicating countless hours to setting us up, and keeping us on air.
We deliver our offer through the Internet to computers, smartphones, eReaders, tablets and social media relays.
Our team have ambitions to broadcast on FM, and will be applying for a licence when Ofcom open the next application round in our area, which starts on September 24h. We have until December to get our application submitted, and we’d love your support! Please visit the ‘FM License’ page and add your name to the list!
Between July and December 2013 we broadcasted a mixture of automated music programmes through the internet as we setup our equipment and tested our infrastructure. When it broke, we fixed it.
In December 2013 we began our outreach work, working with six Chelmsford schools to make Christmas programming for the festive season. We also covered the Essex Police Band Christmas Concert.
In January 2014 we moved our Moulsham Mill Studio down to a new space on the ground floor, and started to deliver live programming. We are working hard to establish an inclusive, engaging schedule. Where there is no live programme, our system switches to automation.
CCR aims to include everyone, we have installed accessible studios, and welcome people of all ages and abilities to get involved.
We have access to an outreach studio truck, which will be broadcasting from schools, community groups and businesses.
We will be running radio training programmes and workshops in our studio, our truck, and in schools, colleges and community groups around the City.
If you are interested in getting involved, get in touch, we look forward to hearing from you! If you would like our outside broadcast unit to cover your event, get in touch.
We welcome advertisers, affordable packages are available to local businesses.
We are here to help make a difference. We are CCR.
